Baptism
Baptism
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and an act of obedience to His command. When a person is baptized, they are identifying with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
Going under the water symbolizes the old life being buried with Christ, and rising out of the water represents being raised to a new life in Him. Romans 6:4 says, "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
While baptism does not save us, as salvation comes by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, it is an important step of faith and act of obedience that follows salvation. Jesus Himself was baptized and instructed His followers to be baptized.
Before ascending to Heaven, Jesus gave this instruction to His disciples: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)
Baptism is a beautiful testimony of God's grace and the life-changing power of the Gospel. It serves as a witness to family, friends, and the church community that a person has placed their trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior and publicly committed to follow Him.
At Living Word International Ministries, we celebrate baptism as a joyful expression of faith and a powerful testimony of God's saving grace. It is an opportunity for believers to publicly proclaim that they belong to Jesus Christ and desire to follow Him wholeheartedly.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and have not yet been baptized, we encourage you to take this important next step in your journey of faith, and we would be honored to celebrate this special moment with you.
